The Jean-Ralphio 'Stranger Things' theory comes full circle on 'The Late Late Show'

Culture

The wildest theory about Netflix's Stranger Things continues to be that the show exists in the same universe as Parks and Recreation (fictitious Indiana towns, after all). That means the very identical-looking characters Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) of Stranger Things and Jean-Ralphio (Ben Schwartz) of Parks and Recreation could ostensibly be related.

However, this crazy — albeit entertaining — theory had to be stopped in its tracks, so the two actors appeared on The Late Late Show With James Corden to dispel the rumors. But as they sat down together, wearing the same plaid shirt, the evidence kept piling up to support the notion. They have the same mannerisms, share hobbies and both beat up the Demogorgon with a baseball bat, apparently.

The two couldn't deny it any further: Yes, they're related (even though they're actors in a sketch about their fictitious characters, but it's fine). Steve is the father, since Stranger Things took place in the '80s, so they went about catching up on lost father-son bonding time.

So this is officially Stranger Things canon, right? Even the Stranger Things creators have said as much
