This weekend, check out the Dumbo Arts Festival 2012 in the ever-hip Brooklyn neighborhood Dumbo. I know this neighborhood wasn't featured on Girls, but I swear, it's fun, young, and trendy.

The Dumbo Arts Festival attracts 200,000 visitors over 3 days with the participation of over 500 artists from a variety of disciplines, 100 studios, 50 galleries and stages and 100 programming partners. This year, the festival will take place on Friday, September 28th, Saturday, September 29th and Sunday, September 30th. The official festival hours are Friday 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and sundown to midnight all three nights for all outdoor projections.

The three day celebration of art, music, and performance is a testament to the creative and reflective nature of New Yorkers, and more specifically those who call Brooklyn home.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the Annual Dumbo Arts Festival is called Codex Dynamic. This massive video exhibition will be projected across the Manhattan Bridge Anchorage and Archway from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. each night of the festival.

The piece uses video mapping which warps the projected image to make it fit perfectly onto irregular surfaces. The 33,000 square-foot feast for the eyes that transforms the bridge and its underside into a full-immersion visual delight.

I'll be there Saturday! If you want to join me, you can search the festival's website by entertainment or art type to find events that appeal to you. See you there — and don't forget to check out the fashion-forward company Modavanti! The new company, which is based in Brooklyn, is a start-up by fellow millennials.
