Michelle Obama drops a world-class zinger on Donald Trump over his microphone problems

Without even uttering the Republican presidential nominee's name, First Lady Michelle Obama mocked Donald Trump's complaints about his faulty microphone at the first presidential debate on Sept. 26, arousing hearty laughter at a Hillary Clinton campaign rally in Charlotte, North Carolina.

"When she gets knocked down, she doesn't complain. She doesn't cry foul," Obama said of Clinton, tapping her microphone in a clear jab at Trump. "No — she gets right back up."

Amid negative reviews of his performance in the face-off against Clinton, Trump charged that he'd been plagued by issues with his microphone throughout the evening.

"They gave me a defective mic. Did you notice that? My mic was defective within the room," Trump complained. "I wonder, was that on purpose? Was that on purpose? But I had a mic that didn't work properly."

While Clinton ridiculed those comments in remarks to reporters, the Commission on Presidential Debates later acknowledged that "there were issues regarding Donald Trump's audio that affected the sound level in the debate hall."

"My biggest opponent was the microphone," Trump quipped at a Monday campaign rally in Colorado.
