Impact

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has won the state of Maryland, according to early election results. The Associated Press called Clinton's victory Maryland at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Maryland has 10 electoral votes, which represents 3.7% of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election.

Clinton's win isn't terribly surprising — FiveThirtyEight projected Clinton had a 99.9% chance of winning Maryland.

Plus, she has enjoyed a solid double-digit lead in the polls over Republican challenger Donald Trump throughout the campaign. Maryland voters have chosen the Democratic candidate in every election since 1960, except for three: Richard Nixon in 1972, Ronald Reagan in 1984 and George H.W. Bush in 1988, according to 270toWin.
