Chilling ad replaces the word "Muslim" with "Jews" and "Mormons" in Trump appearance

Donald Trump kicked off his presidency by proposing a controversial ban on Muslims immigrating to the United States — a policy decision that swiftly made headlines and has dogged his campaign ever since.

But a new ad running in the final days of the campaign asks voters to imagine if the Muslim ban were about other religions, including Jews and Mormons.

The ads are running in Florida and Utah — two states with heavy Jewish and Mormon populations, respectively. If Trump loses either state, his path to the White House becomes all but impossible.

"You've got to listen to this one, cause this is pretty heavy stuff. Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of the Jews entering the United States," Trump says in the ad.

After that, a text screen pops up that reads, "We changed one word. 'Muslims' to 'Jews.' Don't let Trump win. No one is safe unless everyone is safe."

A second ad replaces "Muslims" with "Mormons."

The ads are from Truth PAC, a super PAC founded by Dick Brass, a former Microsoft executive, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.

Truth PAC says in its mission statement that it "was founded to bring the truth about Donald Trump to the American people."

In another ad titled "Putin Puppet," the group ties Trump to Putin — a dictator who has journalists killed and LGBT citizens murdered.

The ads are backed by nearly $100,000, according to FEC filings.
