Presidential Polls Today: Here's where the candidates stand heading into the election

Impact

With Election Day less than 24 hours away, both Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump are working to get as much face time as possible with the American people before they head to the polls on Tuesday. But what do the latest polls say about each candidate's chances as the country heads into Election Day? Monday's numbers show Clinton maintaining a slight edge over her opponent, but the race is still tight.

As of Monday afternoon, the RealClearPolitics four-way average of national polls had Clinton leading Trump by 3.2 points — but the race is much closer than that in some crucial swing states.

According to the New York Times, the latest New York Times Upshot/Siena College survey showed a tied race in North Carolina, a state that "could decide both the presidency and control of the Senate," with both Clinton and Trump polling at 44%.

On Monday afternoon, FiveThirtyEight gave Clinton a 68.1% chance of winning the presidency, but gave Trump a 64.9% chance of winning Ohio and a 71.1% chance of winning Arizona

The race is still tight — but come tomorrow, we'll know the victor.
