Black Friday store hours 2016: When Walmart, Target, Best Buy and other stores open, close

Impact

It's that time of year again! Black Friday is approaching. Do you know what you're buying for your friends, family and, let's face it, yourself? Great! But do you know the store hours? Here's a handy guide that will give you more insight into what stores are open and at what time for Black Friday 2016.

Walmart

The largest retailer in the world will of course be open for much of Black Friday, and some of Thanksgiving as well. Walmart will open its doors at 6 p.m. on Thursday and will remain open all 24 hours of Black Friday. Many (but not all) Walmarts are already open 24 hours a day anyway, so it won't be a big departure for a lot of these supercenters.

Best Buy

Best Buy will also be open on Thanksgiving Day, one hour earlier than Walmart, at 5 p.m. They won't be open 24 hours on Friday, however — most stores (but not all) will close at 1 a.m. after Thursday and reopen at 8 a.m. and stay open until 10 p.m. The store caters primarily to customers seeking high-tech gadgetry, and will provide many Black Friday deals that many won't want to miss out on.

Target

Target is doing its "10 Days of Deals" in the lead-up to Black Friday weekend. We're smack-dab in the middle of it right now, with each day (including a few after Black Friday) presenting its own set of deals. Target will be open on Thanksgiving Day at 6 p.m. They will remain open until 11 p.m. on Black Friday.

Kohl's

Midwest-based Kohl's Department Stores will also be opening on Thanksgiving Day at 6 p.m. and most stores will remain open all of Black Friday. Some stores will have different hours, however, so it's best to check online first before you commit to camping outside a closed store. Kohl's provides customers with a lot of options in household goods and clothing, and is well-known for their incentives (including Kohl's Cash) for shopping.

Toys R Us

The toy store giant with the famous giraffe will be opening on Thanksgiving evening at 5 p.m. and its ads tout that they will remain open until midnight on Saturday. Toys R Us will also have doorbuster-specific sales from 5 p.m. on Thursday to midnight.

Sears

Sears was originally a catalog-only shopping experience, and purchases relied on waiting days (and oftentimes weeks) for their arrival by train. Today, you just have to camp outside the store on Thanksgiving night. Doors open at Sears at 6 p.m. at most locations and will remain open until midnight, though some stores will be closed all day on Thanksgiving instead. All stores will be open by 5 a.m. for Black Friday shopping.
