The Walking Dead Season 3 Trailer, and the 8 Shows You Must Watch This Week

Culture

Another week, another round-up of premieres. While Revolution has undoubtedly been the ratings hit of the season, this week all the teen dramas come back on the air; and that means, ratings galore. Sure, it might be a week of guilty pleasures, but the weather is getting cooler and you deserve an evening wrapped up in a blanket watching this generation's soaps. With so many shows debuting this week, here are the 8 shows you just can't miss.

1. Gossip Girl

When's it on? Monday at 9 p.m. on CW. Season premiere is Oct. 8.

What is it? New York City's young elite engage in what can only be called full-on soap opera antics. This is the sixth and final season for the uptown posse headed by Serena and Blaire. You know you love them. XOXO.

Why should I watch? The show's leading ladies are becoming some of Hollywood's most coveted actresses. Tune in to see where Leighton Meester and Blake Lively got their starts.

2. 90210

When's it on? Mondays at 9 p.m. on CW. Season premiere is Oct. 8.

What is it? A revamp of that '90's show that had all our big sisters glued to the TV. The new version, now in its fifth season, has all the Beverly Hills glitz, glam, and drama that we crave from our CW shows ... or at least that I crave from my CW shows.

Why should I watch? Because according to the CW website the gang will be "struggling with the biggest issues of their lives." I mean, I'm intrigued. Oh, and Carly Rae Jepsen will make a cameo on the premiere.

3. Nashville

When's it on? Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on ABC. Season premiere is Oct. 10

What is it? A country music drama starring Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere. Britton plays a country music legend who now over the hill, is forced to tour with Panettiere, the bright young thing on the country music scene.

Why should I watch? If you like country music, if you liked Friday Night Lights, if you liked Heroes then this might be your show. It's the series premiere and it looks worthy of a shot.

4. Arrow

When's it on? Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on CW. Season premiere is Oct. 10.

What is it? Based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, the show follows a billionaire playboy (Oliver Queen) turned hero who fights crime and corruption as the vigilante Arrow.

Why should I watch? Action, a studly comic book hero, and apparently the appearance of a few more DC Comics' characters. Sounding pretty good to me.

5. Beauty and the Beast

When's it on? Thursdays at 9 p.m. on CW. Season premiere is Oct. 11.

What is it? Super loosely based on the fairy tale (and the 1980's series) the show focuses on Beauty (aka a NYC cop), and the Beast (a former soldier who gained special powers in a super-soldier program.) The Beast is not always furry and only looks beastly when he gets stressed, a la Jacob in Twilight.

Why should I watch? The show stars Kristin Kreuk, a fan favorite from Smallville. Honestly, this doesn't look like the CW winner of the year, but sillier shows than this have reached fame and good fortune.

6. Vampire Diaries

When's it on? Thursdsay at 8 p.m. on CW. Season premiere is Oct. 11.

What is it? A love triangle between a girl and two vampire brothers. I never thought I'd write that sentence.

Why should I watch? Because we have to see whether or not Elena becomes a full-fledged vampire. It's exciting stuff, you guys.

7. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

When's it on? Thursday at 10 p.m. on FX. Season premiere is Oct. 11.

What is it? The 8th season of the FX original comedy. The comedy centers around "The Gang" (which includes Danny DeVito) as they run a pretty unsuccessful pub in South Philly.

Why should I watch? Hilarity, humor, a cult classic. Need I say more?

8. The Walking Dead

When's it on? Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC. Season premiere is Oct. 14.

What is it? The world is completely overrun by zombies, but a group of humans, led by officer Rick Grimes, somehow manages to survive.

Why should I watch? Because on The Walking Dead the zombie apocalypse is well underway.
