Manhattan Fire: FDNY reports 2-alarm blaze at NYU Medical Center

A fire in a Manhattan hospital sent a billowing plume of dark smoke up above the city's skyline on Wednesday afternoon. According to a tweet from the New York City Fire Department, firefighters were on the scene of the blaze at the NYU Medical Center at 560 1st Ave, in Manhattan's Kips Bay neighborhood. 

The fire reportedly started in the fifth floor of a building that is currently "under construction" and no injuries have yet been reported, according to a tweet from a local news team. 

A tweet from New York City's official emergency notification system urged nearby residents to close windows to avoid smoke and to expect traffic delays in the area surrounding the fire.
