Instagram Update: Use stickers, a hands-free mode and more

Impact

Instagram's latest update includes even more features seemingly borrowed from Snapchat, if you can believe it. First the app introduced Instagram Stories — disappearing photos and videos that you can write and draw on. Then there was the Events channel, which seemed to borrow heavily from Snapchat Live Stories. Now, Instagram is letting you use virtual stickers on your posts — a Snapchat staple.

Instagram stickers

You can use Instagram stickers in the Instagram Stories feature. There are "customizable stickers for weather, the current time and even your location," a blog post reads.

In addition to the regular set of stickers, Instagram has also released a holiday pack and has hinted that there will be more themed stickers in the future.

Instagram hands-free mode and new text options

In this latest update, Instagram also introduced a feature that lets you film a video by simply tapping the record button once, instead of holding the button down.

You can also add more than one line of text and edit it more easily in Instagram stories.

These updates are part of version 10.3, available for Android and iOS.
