How big was the first iPhone? How the iPhone’s screen size has changed over time

Impact

On Jan. 9, 2007, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs introduced the first iPhone at the Macworld conference in San Francisco. The device — which Jobs called "a widescreen iPod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone and a breakthrough internet communications device" — had a 3.5-inch screen with 320 x 480 pixel resolution.

Since the first iPhone, the handset's screen size has changed ever-so-slowly. Apple kept its devices at 3.5 inches until the iPhone 5, which boasted a 4-inch screen, TechRadar reports. And it wasn't until the iPhone 6 that Apple expanded the screen size of its smartphones eve more with a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch model.
