Woody Harrelson is apparently pretty good at ping pong, and in related news, has officially signed on to Star Wars' still-untitled Han Solo spinoff movie. The news, which Star Wars' official website announced Wednesday, arrives shortly after rumors swirled that the actor was being considered for a mentor-like role for one of the galaxy's most notorious bounty hunters.

The film's directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, cited Harrelson's "humor and pathos" as reasons to cast him in the movie. Though apparently, his ping pong prowess was also a contributing factor.

"We couldn't be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody," Miller and Lord said, per StarWars.com. "His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong."

Harrelson joins the promising project that already includes Alden Ehrenreich as the titular bounty hunter, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke as a yet-to-be-named female lead.

Following the confirmation of Harrelson's casting, Star Wars fans celebrated the news on the Twitterverse.

The Han Solo spinoff is slated to be released in May 2018.
