What will happen in the 'The Flash' midseason premiere? Season 3, episode 10 synopsis

Culture

The Flash is set to return to The CW on Jan. 24 for the back half of the hit series' third season. Since The Flash's fall finale, fans have been left wondering what Barry Allen will do to prevent the future he witnessed: Iris West's murder. While Barry and the rest of Team Flash appeared to defeat Savitar in the fall finale, we learned pretty quickly that was not the case.

In trapping Savitar, Barry inadvertently travels to the future, where he witnesses the self-proclaimed "God of Speed" murder Iris West. When Barry returned to the present, Jay Garrick, the Flash from Earth-3, reminded Barry that the future is not set and all he saw was one possible scenario.

Still, seeing the love of your life murdered by a massive speed god is something that sticks with you. In a promo for the midseason premiere Barry tells Iris of her fate, and appears to work with Cisco to prevent that future from ever occurring.

Now, The CW has released new images and the synopsis for The Flash's midseason premiere, titled, "Borrowing Problems From the Future." Check out the official synopsis from The CW and a few of the new images below:

Barry Fights for Iris — Barry (Grant Gustin) is tormented by his vision of the future where Iris (Candice Patton) is murdered by Savitar. When a criminal named Plunder (guest star Stephen Huszar) shows up in Central City, Barry recalls the villain's presence in his vision of the future and fears that if he catches Plunder, it will cement Iris' fate. Confused about Barry's hesitation to stop Plunder, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) decides to step in as Kid Flash. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) offers Julian (Tom Felton) a job. Millicent Shelton directed the episode written by Grainne Godfree and David Kob.
