Although John Legend isn't nominated for any awards this year, he is definitely part of the Grammy family, having won 10 of his own in previous years, including one for best new artist. In 2015, Legend and Common closed out the Grammys singing their award-winning song "Glory," from the motion picture Selma.

Eight-time winners Metallica, who have rocked out the Grammy stage in previous years, will return in 2017. Band members James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich are up for best rock song for the group's "Hardwired." The track is from Metallica's most recent album Hardwired... to Self-Destruct. On their site, the group promised "something very unique and special" for their performance.

Urban's Ripcord is also nominated for best country album.
