Looking to watch the 2017 Met Gala live? You actually can't — here's why

Culture

The first Monday of May is exclusively reserved for the biggest night in fashion at the yearly Met Gala event.

Twitter is likely to explode on Monday night with updates from the red carpet — especially if Rihanna shows up in another show-stopping extravaganza. But for those looking to tune into the 2017 Met Gala, we've got some bad news: The event itself won't be televised. The event has never been televised and that isn't changing anytime soon.

Fortunately, the red carpet is available for your viewing pleasure. There are several ways to watch the 2017 Met Gala red carpet live, including Vogue's Facebook page live stream at 7 p.m. Eastern. E! will also be airing the red carpet live at 7:30 p.m. Eastern

The theme for the 2017 Met Gala is Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons and only the most fashionable celebrities will be walking the stairs of New York's Metropolitan Museum. Confirmed attendees this year include Brie Larson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bella and Gigi Hadid and Chrissy Teigen.
