Showrunner Ryan Murphy is getting a little too real for the third season of American Crime Story.

Versace: American Crime Story will follow the murder of fashion icon Gianni Versace, which occurred on the stairs outside his Miami home. TMZ reported that the cast is currently filming at the actual location where the murder took place: Versace's onetime mansion.

TMZ reported that filming started on Wednesday.

Darren Criss has been cast in the role of Versace's killer, Andrew Cunanan, while Édgar Ramírez will play Versace. Oscar winner Penélope Cruz is playing the role of Versace's sister, Donatella.

Following the gruesome murder in 1997, the house was quickly transformed into a luxury boutique and renamed the Villa Casa Casuarina.

The third installment in the FX anthology series is set to air sometime in 2018 for a total of 10 episodes. It will air after Katrina: American Crime Story, which is set to premiere in 2018 as well. The two seasons will air within about six months of each other, giving fans double the Murphy.

It appears 2018 will be a big year for American Crime Story
