Culture

Fans of The Voice have spoken: Chris Blue of Team Alicia is the season 12 winner of the singing competition. After several weeks of competing, the 27-year-old vocalist carried home The Voice trophy Tuesday night. Lauren Duski of Team Blake was the runner up.

In his blind audition, the Knoxville, Tennessee, native's passionate performance of the classic Motown record "The Tracks of My Tears" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles caught the ear of Alicia Keys. In the finale, Blue delivered a high energy cover of Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation."

Blue will now follow in the footsteps of previous The Voice winners Sundance Head, Alisan Porter, and Jordan Smith — to name a few — and receive a recording contract. To celebrate Chris Blue's win, here are seven of his best songs from season 12 of The Voice.

1. Janet Jackson, "Rhythm Nation"

On the finale of The Voice, Blue brought powerful vocals while keeping up with an army of backup dancers for his cover of Jackson's "Rhythm Nation."

2. Tamela Mann, Take Me to the King"

Blue, who started out singing in church, took it back to his gospel roots in his uplifting rendition of "Take Me to the King."

3. Alicia Keys, "If I Ain't Got You"

Blue and fellow Team Alicia singer, Vanessa Ferguson, brought smooth and in sync harmonies as they covered their coach's hit "If I Ain't Got You."

4. Bruno Mars, "24K Magic"

Blue showcased his versatile abilities to bust moves while killing live vocals — and also a bit of rapping — in his cover of Bruno Mars' "24K Magic."

5. Al Green, "Love and Happiness"

One of Blue's most intense and soul stirring performances this season was Al Green's "Love and Happiness."

6. Rihanna, "Love on the Brain"

On The Voice's live playoffs, Blue brought fire to the stage as he took the lyrics of Rihanna's "Love on the Brain" and made it his own with heartfelt riffs and runs.

7. Stevie Wonder, "Superstition"

As Blue jammed out to Stevie Wonder's "Superstition," Alicia Keys stood up to dance to his performance during the "The Knockouts" portion of the competition.
