This is why you can't watch 'Fear the Walking Dead' on Netflix

It seems like Netflix has everything subscribers need, with countless original TV series and movies being added every month.

Unfortunately, one thing the streaming service does not have is AMC's hit series Fear the Walking Dead. The show, a spinoff of The Walking Dead, is currently heading into its third season.

Hulu owns the streaming rights

Fear the Walking Dead is an AMC original series, but Hulu owns the streaming rights to the show.

In a deal made in 2015, Hulu secured the rights to future AMC shows like Fear the Walking Dead, while Netflix would maintain the rights to the network's older shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men and, yes, The Walking Dead.

This deal also included nabbing the rights to any programming under the AMC brand. This includes networks like IFC, BBC America, Sundance TV, WE tv and IFC Films.

"AMC Networks has an incredible reputation and track record in producing captivating storytelling across a variety of genres for true connoisseurs of television," Mike Hopkins, the chief executive officer at Hulu, said in a statement.

"This huge partnership guarantees that Hulu viewers will soon be able to enjoy the newest slate of premium programming from some of the top cable networks," he continued.

Season three of Fear the Walking Dead premieres Sunday, June 4, on AMC at 9 p.m. Eastern. Fans can catch up on the series with seasons one and two currently streaming on Hulu.
