Dear TV fanatics: Netflix has renewed Dear White People for a second season to air some time in 2018. The team behind the acclaimed series shared the news via the show’s official Twitter page.

Based on the critically lauded film of the same name, the series primarily depicts the racial tensions at a prestigious fictional university that’s predominantly white. Season one, which began streaming on April 28, chronicles the fallout of a blackface party put on by the school’s white-run satirical magazine.

The film Dear White People, written and directed by Justin Simien, began in 2012 as a concept trailer, which Simien paid for out of pocket. The Indiegogo-funded film then went on to win a special jury award at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.

Netflix also renewed the animated comedy F Is for Family earlier this week. And on Thursday, Lana Wachowski announced that the recently canceled Sense8 will receive a two-hour series finale special in 2018, after a massive online fan campaign decrying the cancelation.
