iPhone 8 Mirror: The next model might have a reflective option

Impact

There’s a new rumor about the appearance of the upcoming iPhone 8 — the premium device launching alongside the “S” cycle update to honor the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone — and it has to do with colors. The iPhone 8 may have a “mirror-like” reflective model, MacRumors reported, citing mobile leaker Benjamin Geskin. If true, this would be an entirely new version of the device.

Geskin hasn’t named a source so the rumor remains unverified. But KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a record of making correct predictions, said Apple’s new device will come in “boutique” color choices.

“To maintain its boutique image, we think the OLED version will offer fewer options for casing colors than LCD iPhone models,” the report reads.

The current iPhone 7 line comes in six shades: jet black, black, gold, silver, rose gold and a red version affiliated with (PRODUCT)RED, Apple’s line that contributes to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS.

The smartphone is also rumored to have a glass and stainless steel body. The display for the 5.8-inch iPhone will be nearly bezel-less. It will also be an OLED display instead of the usual LCD.
