Justin Bieber AMA 2012 Performance Video: Justin Bieber is the Artist of the Year

Impact

At the 40th annual American Music Awards on Sunday evening, Justin Bieber was the artist to watch. The 18-year-old heartthrob won three awards including the prized Artist of the Year. He also took home the honors of Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Album. So what’s next on Bieber’s agenda? Based on his AMA achievements, the sky is the limit for him.

Justin was awarded first with Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist of the Year, beating out Flo Rida, Pitbull, and good friend and mentor Usher. Bieber used his acceptance speech as an opportunity to shout out to his “nonbeliebers.”

“I want to say this is for all the haters who thought that I was just here for one or two years. I feel like I'm going to be here for a very long time” he said confidently.

Bieber had two performances of the evening. His first was an acoustic version of his hit “As Long As You Love Me” followed later by a lively number of “Beauty and a Beat” alongside another AMA winner, Nicki Minaj.

Young teens all across America aren’t the only ones that have the Bieber fever. Nicki Minaj grinded on Bieber for a brief moment during their performance, and Jenny McCarthy boldly kissed him on the neck when she presented him with his second award.

“Wow, I feel violated right now” he said upon giving his acceptance speech.

McCarthy had no shame in her kissing attack.

"I did grab his butt," McCarthy said backstage. "I couldn't help it. He was just so delicious. So little. I wanted to tear his head off and eat it” she said backstage.

Bieber thanked his mother, Pattie, while receiving the prestigious honor of Artist of the Year. “I wanted to thank you for always believing in me,” he said to his mom.

Despite his most recent split from long-time girlfriend and teen star Selena Gomez, Bieber seems to be doing just fine. Although Justin is a native of Canada, Bieber fever has spread across America, and it looks as though it is here to stay.
