The 55 Biggest Hits of 2012 in One 8-Minute Mash-Up

Culture

Love the music of 2012, or hate the music of 2012, it's hard not to listen to these mash-ups and feel a deep pang of nostalgia for the year that's almost over. Today, two different men named Dan gifted the world two very different mash-ups of the 2012 hits.

Dan Deacon's track, "Wish Book Volume 1" curates beats from mega-pop and anti-pop. He samples from the likes of Nicki Minaj and PSY, but also throws in some James Brown, Dirty Projectors and Black Dice. The result is nothing short of magical. Check out the liner notes for the full list of all the sampled artists.

On the pop end up the spectrum, Daniel Kim released "Pop Danthology." This 8-minute track is a pure pop sampling but it's genius in its own right. Justin Bieber is a feature player, as is Flo Rida and all 53 other sampled tracks are massive stars as will. The other party favor from the Kim track is the accompanying music video.

The mash-up season has officially begun.
