Twitter vs Instagram: Filter Photo War is On

Culture

Twitter will release an Instagram-esque photo-filtering feature built in on the official app of the microblogging site, reported All Things D. The goal is "to release the camera filters in an application update in time for the holiday season."

Tough, according to All Things D, Twitter has not commented about it, its chairman Jack Dorsey implied the new update is currently being tested by posting a series of artistically-altered Twitter images on his feed (including images in black & white).

The move seems to be a response to Facebook/Instagram which have disabled the sharing of Instagram pictures on Twitter in what some are calling the online networks' 'photo wars.' Perhaps, Instagram doesn't want to share with Twitter the traffic pick associated with the holidays (Instagram saw more than 200 Thanksgiving-related photos posted to its service every second on Thanksgiving Day alone).
