2Day FM, the Australian radio station that employed Mel Greig and Michael Christian — the DJs who pranked the London’s King Edward VII’s Hospital nurse Jacintha Saldanha regarding the stay of Duchess of Cambridge Kaye Middleton — has donated $500,000 to the family of the nurse who was found dead after revealing private information to the pranksters believing they were Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

According to ABC News, 2Day FM released a statement saying it hopes to "help [Jacintha] Saldanha's family with the support they need at this very difficult time." The station, which fired DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian amid a global outcry that included a severe advertising boycott, says "all its profits for the rest of the year" will go directly to the family of the nurse.

Meanwhile, Saldanha's husband and two teenage children spoke publicly for the first time since the tragedy: "This is a close family [we] are devastated by what has happened. [We] miss her every moment of every day," they said through an official.
