Jacob Tyler Roberts is the Clackamas Oregon Shooter

Impact

Jacob Tyler Roberts was the name of the gunman who opened fire Tuesday at Portland's Clackamas Town Center Mall, in Oregon, killing two people — and self — and injuring others.

The information was revealed by The Huffington Post, which reported Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts' statement at a press conference.

"At this time we do not understand the motive of this attack except to say there is no apparent relationship between the suspect and his victims," Sheriff Roberts said.

He added that police have searched the suspect's home — at 7324 South East 84th Ave. in Portland — as well as his 1996 VW Jetta (found in the mall parking lot) but that authorities are not ready yet to reveal any further findings.

According to HuffPo, the shooter, who wore "a white hockey mask and a load-bearing vest [while] carrying a semi-automatic AR-15 rifle and several fully loaded magazines," announced, "I am the shooter," right before opening fire on Christmas shoppers.

One of the survivors, 15-year-old Kristina Shevchenko, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after the attack, where she underwent surgery and was then upgraded from critical to stable condition (just months before Shevchenko and her family had suffered another tragedy: a head-on car crash where the Shevchenko family were the survivors of a fatal collision).
