Nancy Lanza Taught Her Son How to Shoot Before Sandy Hook Tragedy

Impact

While new reports try to establish whether Nancy Lanza — the deceased mother of Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old shooter that killed 20 children and six adults at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut — was actually a teacher at the institution, even more troubling facts are emerging about America's newest mass killer.

According to Slate, in addition to the known report that the two semiautomatic pistols and .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle Lanza used in the shooting were registered to his mother, she also reportedly taught her kids how to use them.

Apparently, the owner of a landscaping business who knew Ms. Lanza — and reportedly helped her decorate her yard for Christmas — told Reuters he heard her saying she often went "target shooting" with her kids.

According to the unnamed source, Ms. Lanza made the comment after she showed him "a really nice high-end rifle" she had purchased.

Ms. Lanza, who was initially described as a Sandy Hook kindergarten teacher, then as a "substitute teacher," was reportedly killed by her own son before he went to the school to perpetrate his horrific rampage.
