Adam Lanza is Loved by Westboro Baptist Church, That is Why Anonymous Wants to Destroy Them

Culture

Following reports that Westboro Baptist Church, known for picketing the funerals of fallen American soldiers to protest the U.S.' "social decay," is planning to desecrate the services of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre, hacktivist group Anonymous has announced it plans to "destroy" Westboro.

And, according to BetaBeat, 15-year-old hacker Cosmo the God, from the infamous Underground Nazi Hacktivist Group (UGNazi), has decided to join the effort by hacking the Twitter account of Westboro spokesperson Shirley Phelps-Roper over the weekend.

Cosmo became famous by hacking the sites of NASDAQ and the CIA to protest SOPA. The 15-year-old hacker has also been sentenced in juvenile court for credit card fraud and online theft.

BetaBeat has highlighted the fact that, if Cosmo, the Long Island New York teen, is in fact behind the hacking of Westboro's Shirley Phelps-Roper, he'd be indeed violating his parole.

Should he be held accountable for this? Or, will the court overlook it given the fact that WBC borders on being a hate group?

Either way, Anonymous vs. WBC is proof that the culture war — which we thought it was won by liberals after 2012 elections — has now taken over the digital realm in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre. What would the religious right's next move be?
