Who Won The Voice Last Night: Cassadee Pope Crowned Season 3 Winner

Culture

Season 3 of The Voice has officially come to a close, and the winner is none other than Blake Shelton's protege Cassadee Pope. Pope's win makes Team Blake the winning team for the second season in a row.

Prior to her time on The Voice, Pope was a member of a band called Hey Monday which she separated from in order to try her hand at a solo career.

Pope's win began to feel inevitable after one of her Voice performances became a bona fide chart topping hit. Her cover of the Blake Shelton penned song "Over You" (originally sung by Shelton's wife Miranda Lambert) is currently number nine on the iTunes charts.

Last night's two-hour season finale was a celebrity showcase with stars like Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars, and Avril Lavigne taking the stage. Pope held her own with her rendition of Faith Hill's "Cry."

Pope beat out Nicholas David (of Team Cee Lo) and Terry McDermott (also of Team Blake). We can surely expect more top 10 hits from Pope in the coming weeks and months.

Season 4 of The Voice will premiere March 25, 2013. In the new season, Shakira and Usher will join the panel of judges taking over for Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.
