Draco Winter Storm Will Hit New York City, But No Blizzard


New York City won't be hit with a blizzard this weekend, but it will experience some rain (including possible thunderstorms) beginning Thursday night after 10pm. 80% chance of storms through Friday night with winds reaching as high as 41mph, clearing up by Saturday morning. From Weather.com:

This Afternoon:

Partly sunny, with a high near 47. Northeast wind 5 to 9 mph becoming southeast.

Tonight:

Rain, mainly after 10pm. Patchy fog after 10pm. Low around 43. Breezy, with a southeast wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 19 to 24 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday:

Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of rain. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog before 1pm. High near 52. Breezy, with a southeast wind 21 to 25 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Friday Night:

A chance of showers, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Breezy, with a southwest wind 18 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday:

A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Windy, with a west wind 21 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night:

Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Breezy.
