The 7 Biggest Political Losers of 2012

Impact

7. Susan Rice

Once considered a shoe-in for Hillary Clinton’s successor as Secretary of State, U.S. Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice withdrew her name from consideration after she flubbed her recounting of the events that led to the September 2012 Benghazi attack.

6. John Boehner

The message from the American people in the last election was clear. More than they wanted any political party in power, they wanted Congress to do its job. Boehner’s inability to lead, and his repeated cheap shots as he captains the losing team, prove that he’s the wrong man to bring action and bipartisanship back to Washington.

5. David and Charles Koch, and Sheldon Adelson

Wonder what it’s like to lose over $100 million? Ask these three, who reportedly donated that much to Republicans during the 2012 election cycle. (Next time, bet on a horse with a pulse, fellas.)

4. Karl Rove

As the mastermind behind the Bush administration, Rove has always presented himself as being one step above the shrill talking heads at Fox News. On Election Night, Rove’s on-air tantrum proved that in the current Republican party, the crazy is trickling down straight from the top.

3. National Rifle Association (NRA)

Once known as ardent defenders of the Second Amendment, the NRA proved themselves to be an outdated fringe group with their illogical reaction to the Sandy Hook tragedy.

2. David Petraeus

The epic fall of CIA director David Petraeus left everyone wondering: Did fellow four star Army Generals George Washington and Ulysses S. Grant participate in Real Housewives-esque drama too, or is that a fun modern day twist?

1. Governor Mitt Romney

In just a few month's time, Mittens went from gleefully betting Rick Perry $10k in a primary debate to pumping his own gas like a mere plebeian. But he didn’t even want to be president anyway, you guys, so maybe we can’t call him a loser after all.
