Mitch McConnell and Biden reach fiscal cliff deal on tax issues, address spending cuts later

Minority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) just concluded a speech on the Senate floor emphasizing that he and VP Biden are "very, very close to an agreement."

 

McConnell called for leaders in Congress to move forward and protect Americans from tax increases on January 1, encouraging leaders to approve the tax portion of the deal and fight over spending cuts later.  He probably wouldn't have made the statement if he didn't think he had Senate GOP support.
