Fiscal Cliff House Vote - Final Debate Begins

Impact

One last hour of debate has begun on the floor of the House in advance of the final vote on the Senate-passed fiscal cliff bill.

Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI) kicks it off, calling the vote a "legacy" vote that makes permanent most of Bush tax cuts.

This echoes Grover Norquist's rhetortic. The anti-tax crusader and author of the "NO TAXES EVER" pledge just went on CNN to explain that Republicans aren't raising taxes by voting in support of this bill, but are preserving the majority of the Bush tax cuts permanently.

If that comment makes your head start-spinning, you're not alone. If nothing else, tonight may me the first nail in the coffin of the Norquist dictatorship over Republicans in Congress.
