Barry Bonds used steroids. A lot. This is fact, not opinion. But it wasn't always so obvious. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, when Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGwire were cranking dingers at a pace that made Joe DiMaggio look like Craig Counsell, fans and writers alike were awestruck by the feats of modern-day players -- feats we now know to be fake. The bodies of all three players gradually inflated to the size of professional weight-lifters, but we continued to bury our heads in the sand. Maybe it was all those (legal) nutritional supplements and advances made in physical training.
