Baseball Hall of Fame Vote Results: No One Inducted in Infamous Steroid Vote

For only the eighth time in history, no player garnered the 75% of the vote from the Baseball Writers Association of America necessary for induction into the Hall of Fame. Craig Biggio led the voting with 68%. 

This can come as no surprise, as Barry Bonds (36%), Roger Clemens (38%), and Sammy Sosa (12.5%), and Rafael Palmeiro were known to use steroids. For Bonds, Clemens, and Sosa, this was their first time on the ballot. This is Palmeiro's third time. 

Biggio stood the best chance, as he hadn't been connected to steroids and had reached the 3,000 hit plateau, finishing his career with 3,060, playing his entire career with the Houston Astros. 

This vote will go down in Major League Baseball history as the Steroid Vote, where four (statistically) sure-fire Hall of Famers were shut out. Bonds, Sosa, and Palmeiro all finished with more than 500 homers, with Bonds being the all-time home run king, and Sosa finishing with 609. Palmeiro is one of the rare players to hit 500 home runs (569) and collect 3,000 hits (3,020).
