Best People's Choice Awards Performances 2013: Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera Steal the Show

Culture

Heavy on awards and light on performances, the 2013 People's Choice Awards did manage to sneak in three pretty solid musical appearances by some of the industry's A-listers. And kudos to the People's Choice for having no fear of showcasing a few different genres.

The best performance of the night was Alicia Keys who sang a simple girl-and-her-piano version of her hit song "Girl on Fire." She then left the piano for a full dance performance of "New Day."

Country singer Jason Aldean brought a little bad-boy country flair to the ceremony with his rendition of "My Kinda Party," off of his 2010 album of the same name. As Rachel Leigh Cook said when she introduced him to the stage, "he's a guy you want to party with."

The final performance of the evening was Christina Aguilera who went for soulful, singing the emotional ballad "Blank Page" off of her new album Lotus. Aguilera also took home the People's Voice Award.

The People's Choice Awards were the first in the heavy stream of constant awards ceremonies that define January and February. Music's true night of awards excitement will take place on February 10 with the Grammy Awards. Expect many more performances to come.
