State of the Union 2013: Live Blog and Recap

Impact

Three weeks after giving his second inauguration address, President Barack Obama is set to give his annual state of the union on Feb 12 at 9:00PM EST.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), per long-standing tradition, invited the president to deliver the address with a formal letter.

"Our nation continues to face immense challenges, and the American people expect us to work together in the new year to find meaningful solutions," Boehner said in the letter. "This will require a willingness to seek common ground as well as presidential leadership. For that reason, the Congress and the Nation would welcome an opportunity to hear your plan and specific solutions for addressing America's great challenges."

Expect the speech to mark his policy direction during his second term, ranging from foreign policy to economic and social issues. Also, expect it to mirror some of the liberal fire Obama demonstrated in his second inaugaral address, which touched on a number of hot political subjects like climate change, continued investment in infrastructure, and immigration reform.

The state of the union, as always, will be broadcast across all major TV networks (ABC, NBC, CBS), as well as most news channels.

PolicyMic will be providing a wide range of live analysis in the lead-up, during, and after the state of the union.
