YouTube Jennifer Lawrence Speech at Golden Globes 2013

Culture

Sunday night were the 70th annual Golden Globes; a night of Hollywood merriment, and a pinch of celebrity debauchery. The evening’s biggest winners in the film department were Argo and Les Misérables; in the TV categories Homeland and Girls took home the most coveted trophies.

Another big winner of the night was the 22-year-old actress Jennifer Lawrence. Lawrence was awarded the Best Actress, Drama trophy for her role in the David O. Russell film Silver Linings Playbook. Her co-star Bradley Cooper later lost to Hugh Jackman.

She took the stage saying, "I beat Meryl" — a nod to her competition Meryl Streep. Lawrence then continued into a charming accpetance speech thanking Harvey Weinstein for, "killing whoever you had to kill to get me up here today."

She continued on thanking her brothers saying, "I wouldn't be who I am today without you being mean to me, but then really supportive and loving constantly."
