Bryan Oliver, the 16-year-old suspect of shooting fellow classmate — and alleged bully — Bowe Cleveland in the chest and abdomen at Southern California's Taft Union High School has been charged as an adult — reported the Associated Press via CBS News.

The Kern County district attorney's office said on Monday that Oliver "has been charged with attempted murder and other counts." Oliver opened fire on Thursday, wounding fellow 16-year-old Cleveland — who is in in a medically induced coma and on life support.

Science teacher Ryan Heber was hailed a hero after he courageously confronted Oliver, talking him into surrendering his gun while helping evacuate 28 terrified students. "I don't want to shoot you," Oliver reportedly told Heber.
