Spring Breakers Trailer: Watch Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson in New Trailer

Culture

The first full-length trailer for Spring Breakers has finally landed. The film, starring James Franco along with teen idols Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, and Vanessa Hudgens, is sure to be one of the most buzzed-about of the season. The film also stars Rachel Korine, a relative newcomer with the same last name as the film's director.

The film follows four bored college students who put it all on the line to make sure they have the best spring break ... ever. For Benson, Gomez, and Hudgens is poised to be something of a breakout. Gomez and Hudgens are scrubbing clean of their Disney channel images, while Benson is stepping out of her rise-to-fame role as Hanna Marin on Pretty Little Liars. The big question for audiences is whether or not the film will make serious actresses out of these teen idols. Franco, for his part, is virtually unrecognizable in the trailer, tricked out in corn rows and gold teeth.

From the 2 minutes and 10 seconds we've been given, it looks like Spring Breakers will be a movie with edge and grit a plenty. The lighting is dark, the music is ominous, the characters are grungey. It's all drugs, parties, guns: the usual spring break fare. Not that we should have expected anything sunnier from writer and director Harmony Korine. Korine ia best known for his disturbing (if you saw it too young, like this writer) and oft-referenced 1995 film Kids.

Spring Breakers is is set for nationwide release on March 29. Check out the trailer below.
