When is the Inauguration: On Monday, Obama's Inauguration Could Crash Social Media Networks

The Wall Street Journal reported that wireless carriers are bracing for a potential presidential inauguration 2013 social media blackout, as millions of users will be trying to text, tweet, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest the inaugurational festivities on Monday, January 21. 

Though fewer people will be attending Obama's inauguration this time around, more people are now wireless subscribers than in 2008. According to industry data, 41 million of users had smart phones in 2008, compared to over 130 million in 2012.

In addition, mobile services are now more available and sophisticated. While, during the second inauguration, users were content with using their cell phones to post a photo on Facebook or email about the event, this year, users would want to shoot, edit and post video on the go.
