What Time is Obama Sworn In? Full Ceremony Schedule

On Monday, President Obama will attend his second presidential inauguration, one of the biggest political events in the country. After being administered the oath of office by Chief Justice John Roberts of the Supreme Court, the president will give his second inaugural address: a speech about what his re-election victory means to him and how it will impact the country.

While President Obama was officially sworn-in for the second time during a private ceremony on Sunday, by Chief Justice Roberts, that ceremony was private and not attended by the media or the public.

Here’s the schedule for Monday, in EST: 

11:20 AM: Obama will take his seat.

11:35 AM: Myrlie Evers-Williams, the widow of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers, will give the invocation.

11:55 AM: Chief Justice John Roberts will administer the oath of office.

12:00 PM: President Obama will give his second inaugural address.

The ceremonies will be accompanied by poetry and music, as well as other speakers. The inauguration is famous for its elaborate and extremely specific time cues for those on stage; for example, First Lady Michelle Obama will be required to appear and sit at exactly 11:15 a.m.
