Michelle Obama Dress: First Lady Wears Thom Browne For Inauguration, But What About the Ball?

Culture

Michelle Obama, the hottest first lady ever, is wearing a navy Thom Browne coat and dress on the morning of President Barack Obama's second inauguration — reported the Associated Press

Browne, the 37-year-old New York City-based designer, who was named Designer of the Year in 2006 by the Council of Fashion Designers of America — and GQ Designer of the Year in November 2008 — developed the outfit's fabric "based on the style of a man's silk tie," according to the AP.

The first lady is accessorizing Browne's creation with a belt and shoes by J.Crew, as well as a necklace by Cathy Waterman (the first daughters are also wearing J.Crew and Kate Spade).

But the question is whom will the first lady be wearing tonight at the inauguration ball? It's not a shallow a question as it seems at first, as first ladies' inaugural attires — including Obama's 2009 famous Jason Wu white gown — become part of American history once the festivities are done by going to the Smithsonian's permanent collection.
