Hillary Clinton Cries During Benghazi Congressional Hearing (VIDEO)

Impact

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton choked up today during the Benghazi congressional hearing where she was grilled by Senators Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) (two potential 2016 presidential candidates) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) among others over the September 11, 2012, attack on an American consulate in Benghazi, Libya — initially reported by the administration as an "spontaneous attack" even when there was available intelligence that described it as planned and executed by an al-Qaeda affiliate.

"I stood next to President Obama as the marines carried those flag-draped casket," Hillary choked up as seen in the video below. "I put my arms around the mothers and fathers, the sisters and brothers, the sons and daughters ... and the wives left alone to raise their children,” Hillary continued.

The secretary of state, who's also rumored as a potential 2016 presidential candidate, then regained her poise and concluded with a solid and bipartisan defense of America's role in the world.

"The United States is the most extraordinary force for peace and progress the word has ever known," she said.
