Tornadoes in Southeast: 8 States Confirm Tornado Touch Downs

Impact

The storms that swept the Southeast Tuesday and Wednesday are finally petering out as they travel up the East Coast. Eight different states confirmed tornadoes: Georgia, Arkansas, Tennessee, Oklahama, Missouri, Illinois, Mississippi, and Indiana.

Thursday morning the storm was moving into the Northeast as it quieted. Still, power outtages were reported in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Jersey.

The hardest hit area was Adairsville, Ga., where a tornado touch down destroyed businesses and homes.

Storm damage will continued to be assessed throughout the day.
