Take a midwestern storm pattern moving between Chicago and Milwaukee, mix it with a rainy front coming up from New Orleans and Louisville, and you get a storm system capable of dumping over a foot of snow along the Northeast.
As of Wednesday night, New York State is expected to recieve light to moderate snowfall in the buildup to Winter Storm Nemo. By Thursday night, however, most meteorologists are predicting that a major storm system will travel from the Great Lakes region to the East Coast, and will hit major cities including New York, Boston, and Philadelphia.
The worst of the storm will ht Saturday, when the majority of snow will fall.
"Everyone in Southern New England should be prepared for the potential of a very significant winter storm Friday into early Saturday," stated the National Weather Service.
