Academy Awards 2013 Date: When Are the Oscars?

Culture

Don't worry, we still have a few more weeks to catch up on all the 2013 Oscar Best Picture nominees. The 85th Annual Academy Awards will take place on February 24 and be televised by ABC starting at 8 p.m.

The lead up to the ceremony has so far been endless headline fodder with the news-friendly trend of this year's nominees being movies that rewrite or re-imagine American history: Django Unchained, Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, Lincoln.

Lincoln leads the pack of nominees with 12 nominations, and Life of Pi comes in second with 11. Another buzz-worthy factor of this year's ceremony is the dramatic Best Director snubs most notable with Ben Affleck's Argo snub. Affleck has essentially swept every other awards show this year, and the Academy failed to even nominate him in the director category.

In total, 9 films were nominated this year for the Best Picture prize including Amour, Lincoln, Argo, Django Unchained, Zero Dark Thirty, Silver Linings Playbook, Life of Pi, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Les Miserables.

So start your pre-Oscars viewing, we have less than two weeks to catch up on all 9 movies.
