State of the Union 2013: Will Republicans Practice what they Preach?

Hours before Senator Marco Rubio is set to give his GOP response speech and continue to showcase the more inclusive Republican party, he continued a Republican or rather politician trend of not practicing what they preach.  Even though the Violence Against Woman Act did pass the Senate today, both speakers who will offer rebuttals voted against it. In fact, every no vote came from a male Republican.

If the GOP is to ever get past their image of being an all straight, white boys club they are going to have to more than lip service. It remains to be seen, but Rubio’s no vote could overshadow his speech tonight. The 22 no votes will continue to showcase the reasons why Republicans lost in 2012 and why their future outlooks aren’t any better.
