OBAMA IS IN THE HOUSE

Impact

I love that it takes 5 solid minutes to walk 70 feet. Awesome.

Watch the classic Obama pauses.

Watch the smiles from Biden, and the lovely orange glow of John Boehner.

Watch half the room stand up in applause and the other half arms folded and grumpy faced.

These are my feelings:

----

Obama cites Kennedy. Classic move, Mr. Obama. Start the speech with things all people can agree on "Soldiers not dying!"

"Whoever you love". The fight for marriage equality is now a resident of Obama's speeches.

A call to bi-partisanship "Putting nation before party". Alright, checkmarks off the laundry list. Waiting for the meat of the speech!

-----

"Most Americans - Democrats, Republicans, and Independents - understand that we can't just cut our way to prosperity. They know that broad-based economic growth requires a balanced approach to deficit reduction, with spending cuts and revenue, and with everybody doing their fair share. And that's the approach I offer tonight."

Well he's sticking to his rhetoric of spending cuts as well.

Affordable Care Act redefining funding based on quality not quantity of medical treatment.

Major calls to Bipartisanship from Obama. Surprising, given the challenge he made to Republicans in his Inauguration speech. He is also talking about "fairness" and equity in tax reform. "Now is our best chance for tax reform".
