Lady Gaga's Injury Sparks Outpouring Of Love From Little Monsters

Culture

To her little monsters (the fandom name), Lady Gaga is everything. She is Mother Monster. I'm an absolute little monster. Gaga’s beauty, powerful voice, perfect dancing, genius song writing, incredible production, unlimited love for her fans, and outrageous generosity are among the reasons for which we will always love her.

On Wednesday, monsters were shocked and saddened by a nightmare-like announcement. Lady Gaga’s management confirmed reports that the rest of her worldwide tour would be canceled due to a severe health problem and impending surgery Gaga would have to undergo. I was speechless and on the verge of tears from the news. We all were.

Love her or hate her, there is no denying that Gaga is one of the hardest working people in the business. She has been going non-stop since the start of her career, releasing new music, and traveling on what seems like a never ending world tour. She has been dancing and singing her ass off night after night for several hours straight. When she’s not performing, she is working on new music, launching a foundation, or carrying out her many philanthropic efforts. She doesn’t stop.

Even with all of the work that she does, she never cancels a show. She has had concussions and thrown up during concerts, yet she still performs to make millions of monsters happy. She cares so very much for her fans, perhaps too much. Gaga has been working herself so hard that she developed synovitis, a painful joint problem that now requires surgery.

Gaga tweeted the following before postponing shows on Tuesday (management later announced all shows were canceled): “I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it has worsened. I’ve been praying it would heal. I hid it from my staff. I didn’t want to disappoint my amazing fans. However after last nights performance I could not walk and I still can’t.”

So, Gaga. This is to you. On behalf of all monsters. Take care of yourself. We will always love you. We will always support you. You don’t have to be here for us right now, we have to be here for you. And there are millions of us here for you. We’ve got your back and we’re not leaving any time soon. You can’t get rid of us that easily. You can’t get rid of us at all. You’re stuck with us. We love you.
