Academy Awards 2013: LIVE Updates On All the Winners

Culture

The 2013 Academy Awards will be broadcast live this Sunday, Feb. 24. You can watch the live-stream here, and follow along with my commentary from the red carpet to the closing moments. It's going to be a fun night, especially with the ever-irreverent Seth MacFarlane playing host to the event.

MacFarlane's no-holds-barred approach to comedy has already gotten him in trouble during the nominee announcement ceremony, where he insulted just about every member of the Academy at one point or another. Whether he'll clean up his act for Sunday night, or treat it like a Friar's Club Roast remains to be seen. He's also nominated in the Best Original Song category for “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” from Ted. His all-but assured loss to Adele is sure to prompt at least a small outburst of the raw comedy we've come to expect from the man who created Family Guy.

Adele might be a lock, but there are some very close races as well, most notably in the Best Picture category. Steven Spielberg is a heavy favorite to win Best Director for Lincoln, but oddsmakers have Ben Affleck's Argo in the lead for the biggest award of the evening. Best Actress is also anybody's ball game, with Jessica Chastain of Zero Dark Thirty, Jennifer Lawrence of The Silver Linings Playbook, and Emannuelle Riva of Amour all very much in the running.

Of course, every Oscar night has some upsets, and I'll be here to punditize all the surprises (and everything else), live in real-time.
